Minutes and Meetings
Members of the public are welcome to attend formal meetings of the NHS Wirral Board. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 7th September 2011 commencing at 2:00pm.
The NHS White Paper, “Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS,” proposes the abolition of Primary Care Trusts by 1 April 2013 with local health services designed and funded in future by local commissioning bodies called GP consortia.
To ensure the Primary Care Trusts are able to operate efficiently until 2013, they have been grouped into “clusters” with a single Board to assist in the development of the new, GP-led system and to oversee PCTs in the run-up to 2013.
Locally, NHS Wirral is part of the new NHS Cheshire, Warrington and Wirral cluster incorporating NHS Western Cheshire, NHS Central and Eastern Cheshire, NHS Warrington and NHS Wirral.
This board meeting is therefore a Board meeting for each of the four PCTs in this cluster.
