Commissioning Policies
Decisions about your treatment
NHS Wirral is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of its residents. In order to do this it is essential that we make the best use of resources we receive to purchase quality health care.
The documents below explain why the PCT does not commission an operation or treatment that you might have requested as there is little evidence that these procedures are effective i.e. will resolve the problem, or the treatments themselves are requested for cosmetic reasons.
In some cases, there may be a good reason why you should continue to receive such a treatment even if you do not meet the criteria. If the Doctor treating you feels this is the case, they will write to us, so that we can consider funding your treatment due to exceptional circumstances.
The documents below will help you to understand the processes that you need to follow in such cases and tell you where you can get help and support if you need it, for example by contacting Have Your Say team on 0845 085 1547 or email: haveyoursay@wirral.nhs.uk. Please note: the Have Your Say team is part of the Patient Advice and Liaison (PALs) service.
