A further new minor injury and illness centre has opened on Wirral as a one-year pilot.
From Monday 7 January 2013 patients will be able to access the new service at Moreton Health Clinic, Chadwick Street, Moreton. The service is open to all Wirral residents and no appointment is necessary. The opening hours will be 12pm to 7pm Monday and Tuesday, 12pm to 8pm Wednesday and Thursday and 10am to 6pm Friday. (Patients should try to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing time.)
This complements the existing minor injury and illness services offered at Birkenhead Medical Building, Parkfield Medical Centre, New Ferry, Holmlands Medical Centre, Prenton and Kings Lane Medical Centre, Bebington.
Dr Hannah McKay, Clinical Lead for Unplanned Care for Wirral GP Commissioning Consortium says “We are pleased to announce the extension of what has already proved to be a popular service.
A minor illness can be anything from a sore throat or insect bites. Minor injuries may also been seen but patients need to be aware these centres do not have onsite X-Ray facilities. If not serious, patients can be seen quickly by a nurse and given advice or prescribed treatment.
We believe that this will provide more choice and better access for people who need treatment for minor illnesses and simple injuries, and further reduce the need for people to attend the Accident and Emergency department at Arrowe Park Hospital.”
